How do you cure an ingrown toe nail?

Question:
its really painful and I got some of the pus out but it still hurts and it's still swollen, how can I get it to to de-flame

Answers:
Two things you can do without going to the doctor.

First, cut a "V" in the middle of the nail ... cut as far down as you can. Second ... and I'm not kidding ... if you have a needle nose pliers, simply hold on to the nail as close to the side where it is ingrown and twist it out. This seems as if it may be a bit gruesome, but I learned it from a podiatrist! It was all he did!! And, it worked great. The toe will remain sore for a day or two as the infection (you said there is pus) will take a bit to go away.

Keep the toe clean and soak it in very warm salt water (two tablespoons of salt per 8 ounces of water). Soaking in salt water will cause body fluids to diffuse through the infection will carry away some of the bad bacteria. It's the same idea as gargling with salt water when your throat is sore.

Good luck!
Go to the doctor. This is quite a common occurence. They will numb the area a little bit & simply cut out the part of the toenail that is ingrown. It isn't that big of a deal & it doesnt hurt.
How do I get rid of my ingrown toenail? Now, if you feel that your ingrown nail is developing into a serious infection, you may want to go to the local doctor (You should probably attend the doctor if the pain turns severe or if a great deal of pus begins to develop). They will surely be able to treat you with medicine or surgery. But there are other ways to treat the problem which is the way I decided to go. I'd heard that loosening the skin around the nail would allow you to slip the nail out for cutting. You can loosen the skin by soaking your foot in hot water for a few minutes. Wait until the skin begins to prune which will allow you to move the skin away from the nail. Push the skin away from the nail, and take a pair of scissors and begin to trim the nail back to its original size. Another way to loosen the skin, is to take a lemon and place it onto your toenail for a good bit of time. The citrus in the lemon will turn your skin into a flexible piece of jelly. That's what worked best for me. You can also place things under the nail to hopefully push the nail out of the skin, until you can finally trim the nail. It is always best to get medical advice from your family doctor.
go paddling in the sea ...I swear it worked for my sister. Also cut a small v shape in the middle of the toe nail, the nail should start growing out.

But just go to the doctor, it can get very painful
You may need surgery. There's no cure but surgery.
go to the doctor and have them check it. They might be able to cut the piece of nail out that is causing the infection or they might have to remove the entire nail.
