Answers:
Well, you could have swelling in the outside canal of your ear or on the inside part. The outside part could be caused by getting water trapped in the canal, usually from swimming but sometime showers can do it. It could be from an insect biting you in the ear, or it could be from somekind of allergic reaction. If it's on the inside it could be from a viral or bacterial infection. You can try cleansing the ear with an ear wax removal product and then putting in some hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to dry out the canal. If it was a bug bite or allergic reaction a antihistamine could help. Cold packs to the area will decrease swelling and help with pain. Warm packs will increase blood flow & may feel comfortable. But if it's from an allergic reaction will increase the swelling. If it's on the inside they might tell you to take a decongestant to help open your eustachian tubes to relieve the pressure on the inside of the ear. If it's a bad external canal infection you will need to go to your doctor for the proper meds which might include antibiotics or hydrocortisone ear drops. Of course, try Tylenol or Advil for pain too.
