Do not feel bad! One thing that I learned when I was quitting smoking was that nothing works for everyone. Some really good suggestions just did not work for me while others did. If picking a quit date causes you stress - don't do it! Just keep on forgetting to smoke. There are many paths to the top of the mountain, the important thing is to get there! Whatever gets you there is the right way...for you!
if you forget to smoke, then get rid of any cigarettes remaining, so even if you eventually remember they won't be around to tempt you. Then when you havent' smoked for three days, you can say you passed your quit date without having to have set it.
