You are on the right track. One of the most difficult things for me to convince many clients in similar situations is how important it is to follow through with PT and keep the joint moving (per Dr's specifics). The pain incurred and time investment understandably discourages patients. The CPM assists with ROM and encourages healing. It is also important to apply ice and/or alternate application of ice and heat (dependent upon Dr's orders and stage of recovery -- every surgeon has their own way of doing things and reasons for it).
I am reluctant to supply you with specific exercises because only your PT and physician can monitor your progress and tailor your care plan accordingly. I will tell you that most patients (myself included = I had knee surgery) increase their chances of regaining maximum ROM by executing exercises on their own time in addition to PT. My PT had me putting in an hr. plus - daily - on top of the 3/4 days a week in her office. It took me apprx. 8 mos. to gain full ROM and some people never re -capture 100% ROM. There are devices, regimen, stretches, strengthening exercises etc. that will help you -- the whats, whens and hows are determined by your individual situation. Ask your PT to show you some exercises and get an idea of his/her opinion re your progress thus far. Your apparent willingness to work and positive attitude is going to bring you a successful and speedy recovery:)
