Medical Qestion?? what does this phrase mean :broken & pinned left ankle?

what does pinned mean? and how to i help take care of it?

Answers:
Probably that a break in the ankle was bad enough that they had to put metal pins in it to hold it together.some times they get removed, sometimes they don't.. If a break was bad enough to need pins . . .it's best to talk to the doctor to see if there is any way to help...mostly its up to the doctor..
