Sore wrist after playing tennis?

Question:
i played tennis for the first time two weeks ago..i was out for about 4 hours and i noticed afterwords that my wrist and my hand were a little bit sore...the next day i felt a little better, so i really thought nothing of it, and i went out and practiced for another couple hours...afterwords, i noticed that my hand and wrist were hurting again, and this time it was a little worse..so since then, ive been icing my wrist, keeping tennis pracitice and other activities that involve the wrist to a minimum and using an ace bandage while doing those activities, and taking ibuprophen, and it seems to have improved alot, but there is still minor pain in my wrist and sometimes in some of my fingers..this pain is mostly on and off

i was just wondering if anybody else has experienced this after playing tennis and if you could give me some insight as to what may have happened, and what i can do to prevent it in the future?

Answers:
i have played tennis for 4 years. i have had the same problem. get a shock absorber for your racket if you already have 1 get another one also when you swing make sure you dont rotate or twist your wrist you could have tendonitis you need to make an appointment with you doctor to get a full diagnosis if you dont it will get a lot worse
Like any activity that you are doing for the first time, if you go out and do it for four hours and then the next day do that same thing again you are going to over use some things. Sounds like you are doing the right things to let is heal. After you feel back to normal, you should try working your way up to playing for so many hours. You can also do some exercises to help to strengthen your wrist. Go to usta.com and go under the health tab to find a bunch of articles that will help your game and body.
