Canker sores and braces dont mix!?

Question:
Ok, tomorrow i am getting braces, but the only problem is i have a really sore canker sore at the back of my mouth and it hurts to swollow and open my mouth wide. I also have a canker sore in the front of my mouth and it is also very painful. I know i should try to cut down on citric acid and things like that, but i need help to reduce the pain in them. I have this stuff called orastat which numbs them, and i use it for the one in the front of my mouth. But its the one in back that really hurts. I cant touch it bacause its next to the uvula, but i am going to need my mouth wide open for a long time. WHat will help dull the pain. I already take pain killers because its just so sore. It feels like i have strep when its just a big sore. WHAT should i do
I cant re-scedule my oppointment because the only time they can get me in is August 24, and i have a big school thing going on and i cannot miss it. The only time after that to get an appointmen is in January. and i have spacers in still.

Answers:
you should try to make a mixture of warm water and sea salt and swish it around in your mouth, it should help it heal.
Swish/gargle with 50% hydrogen peroxide 50% mouthwash. For preventing them, and helping them to go away, try Vitamin B12. Good luck!
Cream of tatar works on canker sores. It tastes gross and makes you drool, but it will be gone in a day or so.
I have found by accident that olive oil really helps soothe, warm and heal my canker sores. Try swallowing a spoonful of olive oil all day today and before you go to bed tonight.

It's also good for your health.
Gargle Salt water for the back one, and use carmex for the front. They both work wonders.
Hmm...
Try chloraseptic spray. I know it has a habit of washing away, but try carying the bottle in your purse with you, and explain to the ortho about them.
I know those hurt like a motha trucka!
If it helps any, the process of getting braces actually isnt that bad. The worst part (which you've probably already done) is getting molds of your teeth done, which is REALLY gross. It hurts a little bit when they slip the metal bands around your back teeth, but that doesn't last long.
There's also some kinds of mouthwash you can get at the pharmacy that will help stop the pain, ask your pharmasist about it.
Good luck!

BTW, you'll want to take some good chapstick or carmex with you, because you'll have to hold your mouth open for a while.
It seems like when you get there, to the dentist, they will be able to help you out. They will have something to put on them to numb it up. Don't worry.
They will have topical medication that will numb that up. Orastat is good, just let the dental assistant apply it.

I hate those canker sores. It's not hard at all to get one. If I drink orange juice, or eat pineapple or accidentally bite my cheek.
