I don't think it is a nerve, but a muscle strain. Likely you did something that injured the muscles between your ribs, which is why it hurts to breath. Take it easy for a week or so and it should be fine.
Well how long does it last? If it comes and goes every so often you don't have anything to worry about, but if it last then you should probably call a doctor.
