If a piece of your skin comes off then "reattaches" without being cleaned, should you remove the flap?

Question:
I stubbed my toe on a log while camping this weekend, and a piece of skin came off. It didn't come off completely. I put a bandaid on it without doing anything to it. I just looked at it today and the flap of skin is back in place where it should be. However, I feel like I might develop an infection underneath, since it was never cleaned.
Should I just cut off that little flap of skin?

The wound did not bleed. Hurt like a b*tch, though.

Answers:
is it flapping? if it's not securely attached, then just cut it off and clean the area. if it's firmly reattached itself, then just keep it clean and wrapped.
Hi Zoe,
If there is no blood supply to that little patch of skin, it will end up dying and causing some problems, I think. If you can get it off without too much pain and trouble, I would take it off (do it fast...). Put some triple antibiotic gel (Neosporin) on it periodically and keep it covered for a few days.

Finally made it to a 6 level, now I don't spend much time in the fish forum. You are still up there, way ahead of me, in the rankings.
