What are the best kind of shoes to wear for nursing?

Answers:
I love birkenstocks. Have worn them for the last 8 years, and had to replace them because they became so shabby! Am a surgical nurse.
I used to be in the same occupation. It depends on the amount of money you are looking to spend. Some that worked very well for me were Dr. Scholls. There are a variety of styles. Another thing you may want to try it to get shoe inserts. Dr. Scholls also sells a variety of shoe inserts that you may find pleasing. Good luck
Birkenstocks or Crocs
My mom is a nurse and has been for years. I know she loves birkenstocks. They're a little pricey but they last forever. Also, my father-in-law has Crocs and even though they aren't the coolest looking shoe he says they are super comfortable and in a profession like nursing you'll be on your feet alot.
I love Danskos! They are expensive but worth it. I have been wearing the same pair for three years. They give your feet alot of support. I think I tried every other nursing shoe out there before I found these. They always left my feet, legs, and back hurting. Plus, they wore out so quickly. I have particularly noticed an improvement in my lower back pain since I started wearing Danskos.
Hi there, I was spent last week in emergency and then a ward and noticed all the nurses and some of the Drs were wearing "crocs" on their feet.
I asked a couple of nurses about this and both said that they were far more comfortable to wear over a long shift than most of the athletic shoes, are really lightweight and cleverly ventilated - so I went out and bought some myself.
They were really cheap and I love them:) Hope that helps.

When I was in this field I wore Nurse Mates, they were great shoes, but they may have something even better now.
Check with a Nursing Supply Store, or go by your local Hospital, see what the nurses there recommend since they are on their feet all day long.
Good Luck
New Balance were recommended to me by my foot doctor.
Vans. The flat kind that don't get in your way and they are very comfortable.
I wear slip on New Balance. Oh so comfy :)
