He tore his ACL and has not had sugerey yet?

Question:

Answers:
A torn ACL NEVER heals itself. You can function in normal everyday activities without a functioning ACL, although your knee will probably develop arthritis faster. Its with athletic activities that require lateral (side-2-side) movement, jumping, cutting, or pivoting where having a functioning ACL is necessary. Without having your ACL reconstructed surgically you are placing your knee at great risk for significant further injury if you do anything athletic that requires movements like I described above.
so what is your question?
I blew my ACL several years ago. I opted not to have surgery. I had physical therapy for 8 weeks after I could bear weight on it. There are times it's a little weak, and I do have to be careful of some strenuous things, but I'm doing great! Surgery is not always the best option.
You can wait for a little bit to wait to have surgery to see if it will heal on it's own and you can also opt out of surgery.
I'd opt for surgery, but Usually knee specialists wait a few weeks before doing surgery because the chance of having a stiff knee and getting scar tisise in it after surgery decreases, The range of motion shouldd be normal and The leg can be strengthen which will make it alittle easier after surgery. Very few times peopel opt for no surgery, either because They arent having really any trouble with their ACL, or their leg muscles or VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY strong that they can support the knee and if the person doesn't even know that their acl is torn
