Knee problem?

Question:
occasionally my knee feels like it "pops" out but then after a minute or so it "pops" back in. during this process i'm in excruciating pain until it pops back and then it sort of swells and the pain goes down Am i dislocating it? and how do i stop it from poping in and out?

Answers:
Did you ever do anything to injure your knee? Because it sort of sounds like you may have torn your ACL or some other ligament in your knee. I tore my ACL a few years ago and never got surgery, and if I twist my knee the wrong way it can sometimes "pop out" and then it swells for a day or two. Either way, you should get it checked out - you may have to get an MRI. Either go to your doctor or the hospital - if it is what it sounds like, you can't stop it unless you get some sort of surgery.
See an orthopaedic surgeon.
My knees typically pop a lot, and my doctor told me that it's tracking of my knee caps. I have had surgery to correct one of my knees but I ended up having some pretty bad results because my neurological system reacted badly to the surgery. Your injury could have something to do with the popping. It also could be cartilage popping, I would see your doctor about this problem.
It could be one of several things or all things
1. ACL
2. PCL
3.LCL
4.MCL
5.Meniscal injuries
6. Patella actually slipping out of place
but I would say it is the ACL and or one of the other ligaments and meniscal injuries to go with the ACL. How did you hurt it? Did it go out on you right after the injury? I'd go to the dr because all you are doing by NOT going to get it checked out is causing more damage to the knee.
