Is it possible to bend your sternum?

Question:
i was flexing the other day, i strained my shoulders all the way down and then strained them forward, towards the front of my body and I pushed them in really hard. I got a pain in my sternum but it went away after a couple seconds. I've flexed like this multiple times.. The pain is not always there. I am afraid I bent my sternum in or something.. Or I broke my sternum. I'm not sure but it worries me. Is it possible to bend your sternum inwards ? please let me know, thanks.

Answers:
Your sternum can definitely be broken, but generally only a high impact blow such as in a car wreck can do it. I think it is more likely that you have strained you pectoral muscle. It is also possible that you have injured a rib at its sternal joint.
I suppose there's a slight chance of a stress fracture to it. Simple remedy, if it hurts, don't do it.
