Question:
Hi, i'm very frustrated! I'm in the army and have wicked shin splints. I'm currently going out for my EIB (expert Infantry badge). I have a road march in a couple days and a PT test. I've been trying to run and i'm tore up. I don't want to really hurt myself. Is there any quick ways to heal shin splints? I'm taking Aleve for anti inflamation. please help me out.
Answers:
I got shin splints in basic and they became worse once i got into tech school. when i went to the docs he said that they had become more than just shin splints but i was seperating so he couldnt help me. as far i know they have to heal on their own. its been 4 yrs and i still cant run without being in severe pain. Just keep taking the anti-inflamitory medication, and try to not over work them. The harder the impact of your foot on the ground the worse they get, so try to add extra cushioning inside your boots/sneakers.
good luck
Hey, try icing your shins and the shin stretch. Where you sit with your legs out straight and point your toes forward(not up) and reach. Good luck. :)
