cant rush it
she`s old so she must follow all the doctors prescriptions and she must have plenty of rest and a good diet
Well, I had two breaks in my pelvis and was bedridden for a long time. I ended up gaining weight because of being inactive. I suggest laying in bed (duh i know), and eating really healthy.
My boyfriend's grandma had a hip replacement, so I'm sure that's along the same pain, and she got really weak and gained tons of weight. If you are able to get rehab, do that right away when you feel ready.
Good Luck
My step-mother had a hip replacement (60), and she is the only person I've ever known to actually follow all of the physical therapy recommendations (frankly, most people are too lazy). Your female is pretty young, so the prognosis is good.

Obviously she shouldn't go to exhaustion - but somehow I am guessing that she (like my stepmom) wasn't in the best physical shape in the first place. BUT she did all the recommended physical therapies and started water aerobics(to allow for exercise without the extra weight bearing on her hip).

Her diet was pretty good in the first place, but for your instance, a nutrition consult might be a good idea.

My MIL on the other hand is in pretty good condition and had knee surgery, but did NOT follow through well with Physical Therapy (PT for short). And we (and she) can tell. She did fine for a while, but now her knee is in every bit as much pain as before the surgery.

They reason that PT is so important (and it IS hard) is that it strengthens the muscles around the joint that sustained the injury so that the joint doesn't have to do so much of the hard work - the muscles provide much of the support. Most of us don't have the optimal conditioning of our muscles for joint health, but we don't notice until the joint itself is weakened through overuse or injury.
