Surgery question here... If someone had surgery, would it not make sense to have both doctors.?

Question:
your surgeon and your regular MD be checking on the status of your health while you are staying at the hospital? This is a serious question... I need help!

Answers:
Your surgeon is the specialist for this procedure.
You would not expect your regular doctor to be there when you see another specialist, for example a urologist, right? That applies to surgery as well.
Many hospitals now have a hospitalist, a doctor who is responsible for all patients being cared for in the hospital, before and after an operation of procedure. He/she acts like your regular doctor.
Good luck with the operation.
I wouldn't expect my GP to be there if I had a specialist. When you go for a yearly physical you can tell your GP about your recent surgeries but I wouldn't expect them to be there in the hospital.
