Check out "Red Rockers" YouQA.com site. You can find him under mine. He's my husband and he can help you. What I say is stop eating your favorite food for awhile and the weight will come off. I lost 15 lb. I had wrote up a big long answer for you but it got lost when I forget to send it.
Good Luck.
You may have stress and it's playing out in your muscles. I often get back pain, either from lifting something, or twisting the wrong way or I might just wake up that way. There are lots of pains we can't explain. Good Luck!
Okay, if you have problems and you don't feel like its in your muscles (more of your spine area) then i suggest seeing a chiropractor, possibly just once, to see what they think the problem is. Then, if it is the muscles, go to see a physical therapist and see if they can do anything about it. My mom had a spasm in her jaw which later developed into her back, and they gave her exercises to do when it hurts. Good luck on your search.
Myself, my wife and four of our friends (English and Spanish) have all had similar problems. Conventional medicine, chiropractors and oesteopaths were of only limited and short lived help.
However all of us have been completely cured of all our back, arm and leg pains in one single treatment.
The total cost is €180, the consultation lasts for an hour but the actual treatment is only about 10 minutes. My wife could only walk with the aid of a stick before the treatment but immediately afterwards was trying to hit me with the stick instead!
The organisation which provides this simple treatment is worldwide. I strongly recommend that you check this organisation out at

I hope you try it out and wish you the best of luck.
any history of arthritis?
I would suggest you should make an appointment to see the rheumatologist - a doctor that specialise in arthritic problems - not just your ordinary family doctor. Most people in their 50's show signs of osteoarthritis in their joints - the wear and tear.
Back problems could be due to:
a) lifting heavy objects incorrectly, that can cause wear and tear to your joint cartilages that can lead to osteoarthritis.
b) your bed may need to be change if its an old one.
c) incorrect sitting position or posture.
Muscle spasm is the pinching of the nerve. Some ways to smooth muscle spasm is by muscle relaxer or as simple as a spa, or hot bath or a heating pad apply to the pain area.
But do see the doctor about it to prevent further complications.
