that is the problem with pain meds being prescribed like he did, they are VERY addictive. i would call and explain to your doc whats going on and maybe there is a less addictive alternative. when i had a problem the doc prescribed lortab's and told me that taking 4 ibuprofen had the same effect as one lortab so that was what i took. unfortunately ibuprofen can also cause your blood pressure to spike so be careful. more than likely you have become addicted to the effects and will not be able to get them. remember the whole rush limbaugh story? he got addicted and started buying them over the internet...it's illegal and he got in bad trouble, but the point is a lot of ppl get addicted to them very easily so you are not alone. tell your doc what has happened and that you are scared and hurting and you don't know what to do.
You need to demand that the two docs talk to each other and figure out what you can get for the pain. It is their fault that you got the same med twice not yours. Their are both keeping themselves in mind and not wanting to be the one that O.D.'s you but you should call your ortho, leave him the pain management doc's number and and tell him that you would like them to decide what you can use and give you one perscription. you have been labeled a drug-seeker and this is a very hard label to break. Be an active part of resolving this and don't get emotional on the phone. Also don't take tylenol this will do nothing take 800mg of Ibuprophen (assuming you are not taking blood thinners) this should help get you by.
Do you have a primary care doc? I would find one, and let him coordinate all care and all meds. Then, you don't have to worry about these problems. In the meanwhile, you shouldn't have to hurt. See one of them and have them talk and let them have access to your pharmacy records so they can see you aren't getting drugs from others and get some relief. No one has to suffer because they had two prescriptions!
I had a similiar problem happen to me. I have fibromyalgia and I'm in constant pain. I recently went back to my rheumatologist and he told me that he had received a letter saying that I had gotten pain meds from two doctors. That is not exactly true. I went to a pain doctor and got some medication. After the medication was gone, I broke my tooth and the dentist gave me medication. That was the only thing I had done. It is against the law to receive pain medication from two different doctors. They are really cracking down on this because so many people are abusing it and selling it.
it is just probably that the doctors are afraid that you might sort of abuse, or get addicted to the medications. that is why they gave you in small amounts. but when you asked the doctor for more medications, it seems as though you are relying for the drug for your 'imaginery' pain.perhaps the doctors can sit down and come out with some medications for you.=)
