I didn't make the team this year but It was my freshman tryouts so I have 3 more years to try to get on the team. I'm also 14. What do you think is wrong and what can I do for it. I have crutches at home if you think that I should be using them.
Answers:
R.I.C.E.
REST: Rest and elimination of activity which aggravates the injury.
ICE: Apply Cold to stop pain and restrict excess Fluid to the injury.
COMPRESSION: To further inhibit swelling caused by excess Fluid to the injury.
ELEVATION: To further inhibit swelling caused by excess Fluid to the injury.
Take an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen to help with the pain and swelling.
After following the above for 1-2 weeks and it fails to resolve itself, make an appointment with an Orthopedic Doctor to have it checked out.
GOOD LUCK!
Sounds like you could definitely have a sprain. Try to keep pressure off of it as much as possible, and use an ice pack or cooling agent to alleviate pain & swelling. For now, take advil or motrin for the pain and try to get in to your doctor. They'll be able to give you a clear diagnosis and will probably give you a wrap for your ankle and tell you how long you should stay off of it.
