Lower eyelid palpating or twitching? This is SCARING me, what is it?

Question:
The other day when I was looking in the mirror, I noticed movement directly under my right eye. It almost looks like a blood vessel is beating rapidly. I can't feel it and I don't notice it happening if I'm not looking in a mirror. Nobody else notices until they're about 12 inches away from my face or closer, but then it scares them too! What is this and do I need to see a doctor??

Answers:
No need to be scared. You probably are not getting enough sleep, that is when it happens to me, or when I am on the computer too long. You should get enough rest, and make sure your diet is good. You may want to get your eyes checked to see if you have eye strain or need glasses, but it isn't anything to be frightened about. It happens to everybody.
Eyelid twitches are annoying but not that unusual. They usually are a sign of eyestrain or stress. So you may need to see a doctor for new glasses or if you recognize that you are under a lot of stress and need help in dealing with it...otherwise, no need to see a doctor.
Twitching and spasms are often caused by a magnesium deficiency.
