Weird vein on top of my foot?

Question:
The large vein on top of my foot (just below and to the side of the ankle) has popped up and feels tingly. Pulsing, almost, and tickly like I have ants in there (eeeeww - horror movie anyone?).
It's not like this all the time; today is the second time it's happened.
I called a nurse the first time, and she said to elevate and use ice packs, which I did, and by the end of the day it was fine, but now it's back.
Any ideas what this is before I call my doc again?

Answers:
Hmmm, it seems like it is nothing big to worry about since the ice and elevation took it away. If you are really worried about it try looking on this site(source 1) and if anything you read sounds like it mention it to your doctor. I think it might be just a irritated vein maybe caused by foot trauma or an uncomfortable position. I wouldn't worry about it too much but make sure to mention the Varicose Veins to your doctor. Good Luck!
