Question:
i am 13 years old and i play fastpitch softball. ive been playing for a couple years and last season i relized that it was hard for me to make the throw across the diamond from 3rd to first. i used to be able to throw a strike to 1st from 3rd. now the beginning of my summer league when i throw across the diamond my arm hurts in the inside of my elbow. i have an elbow brace but its dosnt help that much. am i throwing wrong? do i have a strained muscle or tendonitis? should i go for an MRI? what should i do?
Answers:
You have what is called Little League Elbow, which is inflammation in the growth plate in your elbow.its like tendinitis but b/c of your age the stress is placed on the bone instead of the tendon. Most likely it is from throwing incorrectly. Hopefully you do not have a tear in the Ulnar Collateral Ligament, which would be worse. At this point you should see an orthopedic doctor and get a referral for physical therapy. Feel free to message me if you have other questions.
ice it and take ibuprofen if it doesent work get a MRI because it is proably somthing serious hopefully i helped some.
