Anyone know any good methods to get to sleep easier?

Question:
I find it so hard to get to sleep. Has anyone got any tips on how to get to sleep easier? Any info is much appreciated xxx

Answers:
Don't eat at least 2 hours before u intend to sleep.

Ensure that your feet are not cold, i know this sounds silly but you cant sleep with cold feet.

Ensure you have a comfy pillow and bed...

Hope this helps
try some cold medicine or mucle relaxers and ask your docter
Herbal Nytol helps me. Doesn't leave me groggy in the morning either.
Don't smoke, eat, drink caffeine ot watch tv before bed. Put on some relaxing music to help you drift off. Warm milk is good too.

Sweet dreams!
I have issues falling asleep and I've noticed that if I keep the radio or tv on for noise it is something for me to concentrate on while falling asleep. As I try to sleep my brain goes wild and I start thinking about everything. Also, reading might help calm you down. I used to do that and reading for an hour or so while I was lying in bed helped me fall asleep.
Just be warm and comfortable, hug a pillow or wrap yourself in a blanket. Or listen to calm/your favourite music.^^
You need to make sure you are ready for sleep, going to bed too early or too late can have adverse effects. Get plenty of excercise during the day, destress, have a long bath or shower. Don't eat at least two hours before you intend to go to bed, but you can have a drink, apparently milky ones are best. Both nictotine and alcohol are stimulants, so they are (unfortunatelty) no nos. Relax, read a book, just generally chill out if you can. Best of luck and sweet dreams.xx
You could try listening to music. It's best if you use headphones, and select music from a relatively short playlist. that way, when you fall asleep, you don't keep listening to music and wasting battery all night.

Also, try reading in bed before hitting the lights.

Good luck
I find drinking a glass of milk, not watching tv 2 late and avoiding answering questions on yahoo before i go to bed.
drink! beer/spirits/wine/port anything but drink a lot of it. you will be out like a light.

or look at the reasons you cant sleep, maybe you are stressed about something that you need to resolve before you can sleep properly again
Read a book or do sudoku/crossword in bed, take some herbal tablets to calm you down (like valium, lemon balm), listen to easy listening music, no ciggies, heavy food, coffee, coca-cola or lots of alcohol (no more then one glass) 2 hours before bedtime.

Hope you find something that works.
Try laying perfectly still in a dark room with no distractions, Visualize your body and relax each and every muscle in it, While doing so take 20 deep relaxing breaths inhaleing through your nose and exhaleing through your mouth.
Works for me!
Usually asleep before the 10th breath
I've always heard that warm milk was supposed to help you get to sleep.
also, try some lavender/vanilla body lotion, that really does help.
try not to drink anything containing caffeine after 4 p.m.
if warm milk, lavender/vanilla body lotion, and cutting out the caffeine doesn't help, try taking 2 Benadryl capsules before bed.
Hope you sleep better tonight! =)
sex? if thats not possible then relax, have a hot bath and warm drink. try a lavender scented or sleep easy bath foam it works for my grandson . sweet dreams
First be VERY wary of ANY sleeping pill. They are so addictive that if they are taken 3, yes THREE, nights in a row, that withdrawal and ADDITIONAL sleep difficulty can be demonstrated on the forth night if they are then not taken. Almost no GPs seem to be aware of the available evidence demonstrating this!

Do not read, exercise or watch TV for at least 30 minutes before retiring as these are all brain stimulants. Take a warm, caffeine free drink. Also try aromatherapy quality lavender oil either on the pillow, or in a warm bath before retiring.
i strongly suggest valerian root. it's great at relieving stress and tension! you can get it over the counter and it's a great sleep aid! if you have one of those "racing minds" or "i can't turn my head off no matter how tired i am" then this will definitely help. you can find at your local grocery store in the pharmacy or herbal remedy section. start off taking 500-1000mgs, 30-45 minutes before you go to bed. now you can get this stuff in capsule form and it's 100% safe (my whole family has been taking it for years and our family doctor actually recommended it) however the only downside is that the more potent the brand your taking the stronger the smell. and this stuff smells AWFUL! but it's worth it. within 5-7 days you should notice a definite change in your sleep.

WARNING! i strongly do not suggest that you take Tylenol PM and booze, in any form or combination. the main ingredient in Tylenol PM and Advil pm, or benadryl for that matter is diphenhydramine. here's what happens when you take it:
You can walk into a drugstore and choose from an array of sleep aids, offered without prescription. The main ingredient of over-the-counter sleeping pills is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are generally taken for allergies, but also make you feel very sleepy. Common over-the-counter sleep medications are Sleep-Eze, Sominex, Nytol, and Unison; they contain antihistamines such as:

diphenhydramine hydrochloride,
diphenhydramine citrate, or
doxylamine succinate.
In general, over-the-counter sleep medications are not a good choice because they:

Are not intended for long-term use.
Interfere with mental alertness during the day, so you should avoid driving and other similar tasks. You may also be at risk for falling asleep
Reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep.
Use over-the-counter sleep medications only for transient or short-term insomnia and in conjunction with changes to your sleeping habits. Be sure to pay attention to your body’s physical response to these sleep medications.

also look at the links on the website i've listed they have some good remedies!

I hope this helps!
I had the same problem! My doctor said that if you don't get to sleep easily, you might have too much stress. Try chamomille tea right before bed, or other ways to destress, such as reading a good book or thinking about positive things that have happened to you that day! Try to avoid worrying about school/work because that will keep you up thinking about it...
