HELP!! Dislocated kneecap question!?

Question:
I dislocated my kneecap three weeks ago. The knee cap is still not in the right place. The doctor has had it in an immobilizer for 3 weeks and now he wants to bend it so it'll get stronger so he can do surgery! Is this smart? Should I be bending it??

Answers:
Sometimes bending it can help it pop back into place. Sure it may be painful but it can help in some instances. This info below I found and maybe be helpful. I just googled dislocated knee cap. Hope it helps

MRIs should be done to make sure that the dislocation did not cause a bone to break or cartilage to be damaged. If tests show that you have no such damage, your knee will be placed into an immobilizer or cast to prevent you from moving it for several weeks (usually about 3 weeks). After this time, physical therapy is done to help build back your muscle strength and improve the knee's range of motion.
