If you go to the doctor and have to get shots, does that numbing stuff actually work?

it works wonders! i just had surgery so i needed an IV so the nurse injected that stuff first, then kept poking and prodding inside my vein she picked until she told me she couldn't get an iv started so she tried my hand and injected the same stuff and i never felt the IV slip in!
I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't work. All it does is make your outter skin numb, but the needle goes in more than that! And usually the medicine that goes in has some sort of side effect to it too at injection, like stinging or cold. Just suck it up, it'll be over in a minute.
EMLA is a wonder drug. It does work quite well.
It stops you feeling the pinch as the neede goes in but you still feel the stuff being injected.
