I got a sprained ankle.?


Question:
here's the thing a week and a day ago i did a switch leap over a mat at gymnastics and landed on the edge of the mat spraining my ankle VERY well. It's still swollen and i've been doing R.I.C.E. and i've also been wrapping it tightly but not too tight. Competetion season is only 5 weeks away and i have 2 get back into gymnastics FAST so does anyone have any other suggestions?

wow i have been in your situation to many times to count. Just keep doing everything your doing, and just wait it out. But dont baby it, cuz if it gets to lazy while healing, then its going to b hard to start in on training again, expecially when competition is near. But still, take it easy and give it time to heal. Other then that you just have to wait. Make sure your ankle is wrapped well for practice and competition. Nothing sucks more then having an almost healed sprain that gives out a few days before a meet.

R.I.C.E. helps a lot but also try to stay off of ur ankle as much as possible.
u should stay off your ankle for the next five weeks because a sprained ankle takes about 6 weeks to fully heal so your ankle will be better by competiton... i hope my answer is useful... also wraping it will make it better too
Don't get back on it to fast. Believe me. i broke my ankle 5 years ago and since then i have sprained it twice and broken it once again last year. TAKE IT EASY OR YOU WILL SUFFER IN THE LONG RUN.
Ice it three times a day for 30 minutes. I sprained my ankle really bad, 1 day before a huge volleyball tourney and 1 week before Nationals. I didn't play in the first tourney, but I walked out my ankle a lot, making sure to ice it and be very careful, and I was back up and playing with some pain still at Nationals. Keep on wrapping it and maybe try an active ankle?
