As a nurse make sure you do as they havetold re care of your foot.. Also take calcium supplements or dring a pint of milk aday.. believe me it works...
I had a walking cas fitted afet about a week.. use the crutches for at least a week .. . Thats what i did... but it depends on what they told you as to when you shoudl walk without crutches. It depends on the severity of the fracture...
Friday the 13th. How ironic.

A broken bone usually takes about 6-8 weeks to mend depending upon your age and the severity of the break. My former secretary broke the same bone and was on crutches for at least 6 weeks, though it might have been a little longer. I think I'd look at the rest of the summer on crutches and early fall in a walking cast.
I broke my heel once, and the cast was so big and bulky that it made it worst. The next doctor put me in a plastic boot a week later and that was so much better. They make plastic boots with an inflatable lining that pumps up to fit your foot snuggly. It fits really tight. You can take it off when you go to bed at night and reinflate it in the morning.
