If you're working on a very low amount of sleep during the day/night does your metabolism slow down?

Question:
I only ask this cuz sometimes I'll get like 8 hours of sleep the night before and then I'll go to work late at night (around 8 or 9 pm) and sometimes work until like 5 am in the morning. I drink lots of coffee to stay alert. I thought that coffee actually speeds up your metabolism, but I'm more concerned with the question. Thanks.

Answers:
Actually this speeds up your metabolism. Sleep deprivation enables the release of stress hormone cortisol which speeds up the metabolism. Also, an irregular wake/sleep cycle lowers your natural immunity so you should be careful about that too, or you will more easily get sick.
