Answers:
your biggest problem is because smoking is legal and you dont have to hide doing it. second is because
you may have been doing it longer that you did crank and that in it self is a problem.
I personally dont think its the stuff in the smokes that is the problem i personally think it is more the habit that keeps you doing it! People are creatures of habit in everything we do and so smoking or not is a habit that is hard to break!
for your fingers ..you need to find something to do with them for the habit of a smoke being there! The gum will help with the habit of something in your mouth to do and the nicotine ... in between times you can use something else like a lollie pop or something else! what every you do dont replace the gum with food like most people do , that is the weight gain problem . they replace the gum with food and dont stop there. all you will need is a quick thing that isnt going to do you any harm in the weight gain department. dont eat a hot dog , instead use a mint that wil last for about 10 min.sound familure ?10 min?
It just takes a TON of will power. Maybe you can find an online support group or maybe even your husband. Just tell him you are really trying and that you need help. Make him take the cigarrette from you no matter what, have him keep track of finances so you cant buy cigarettes. Whenever you get an urge, think how much you love him and that he's worth more than cigarettes.
well it sounds like you got will power...i guess all i can say is suck it in a bit longer
Yeah ,I feel you! my best friend tried the patch, but she couldn't keep it lit!
Says a lot for the addictive nature of cigarettes, huh? The only thing that finally got me to quit was a good family friend dying suddenly at 53 years old from a massice heart attack...FEAR did it.
alright well
the hardest part of quitting smoking
is the first 3 days
if u can go through the first 3 days with not 1 single
cigarrette or even a puff,
it gets a lot easier from there.
eat a ton of the nicorette gum,
and whenever you start feeling like you want a cigarrette,
do an activity where you don't usually smoke.
like go to a movie or something..
hope this helps, good luck
I recently quit and have been smoke free for 7mths. after 38yrs being a 2 pk a day habit.I too quit drugs and drinking years ago and you are right smoking is really a hard habbit to break,it's worse then a heroin addiction.I went on Zyban(Wellbutrin) and the patch. The Zyban is the only thing that has kept me off cigaretts the patch does nothing. My husband quit at the same time using the gum and he still is chewing the gum.
It sounds like you need Chantix to help you quit. This is a new medication that blocks the nicotine to your brain which decreases the desire. This stuff is pricey, but so is smoking and its' long term side affects. The only problem with the Chantix is it too has side affects, nausia, headache and vomiting, which come on as you increase the doesage. Then again everyone is not affected by these. So give it a try if you are truelly committed to quit, congradulation and good luck!!
Get support from your new husband. Set up a reward system for yourself. Everytime you go a day, week etc. without smoking, reward yourself with chocolate, a fancy dinner, anything besides another cigarette!
