How do I get my nose to stop running so much?
Question:
It's not like an infection because the stuff is clear. I was a nasal spray abuser at one time, but I have been off of it for about 8 months now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

LMAO Best answer guy,
take away its tennis shoes.
Try allergy medicine.
my guess is you are spending a lot of time in an area with a air-conditioner. some people get runny noses from the dryness in the air caused by the air-con.
you probably have allergies, my daughter had a runny nose for almost 2 years she ended up having her adnoids and tonsils taken out, she has not had a runny nose since.
Find the source of what is making your nose congested,
change air conditioner filters, look at the pillow you are sleeping on, are you allergic to it?
It sounds as if an allergen is causing it, ask your doctor about an allergy test to help.
Try taking an over-the-counter allergy medication. Don't do nasal spray considering you were addicted once. Try gel caps or pills.
If this doesn't help, seek your doctor for an answer.
Use some Vick's. I use Vick's and rub it around my nose and under it. The vapors keep my nose from running. Try it, they also have those Vick's inhalers, where you stick it up to your nose and inhale in and it pulls back the mucus.
Vick's vapors can kinda burn our eyes so don't apply too much.
hey it can be allergic rhinitis.better to go to doctor.
but if u want to try medicine.use CTZ 10mg once a day at night time if it doesnt help.use beclate spray or sodium cromoglycate spray...it will definitely help u.no doubt about it.
an antihistimine can be helpful. It could be allergies. Also a medicine like claritan could help.
yeah the nasal spray can be addictive, i have bad sinus myself, i used to end up taking nasal spray about 8-10 times a day, instead of the prescribed 2, eventually it stops working altogether,
it is important that it is only taken as prescribed, it works better as the bodies immune system wont fight it and stop it from working,
if you go back on the nasal spray, it will take a couple of days/weeks for it to get up to speed again,
hope it works for you
First you must determine the cause of the increased fluid. Allergy, pollups or upper respitory infection (cold) are the usual culprits.
Allergies can be determined by a Wras test. A dermatologist will prick your skin with different allergens to see what bothers you.
Pollups, (fluid containing pockets in nasal canals) can be treated surgically or by a steroid nasal spray, again this requires a doctor. A cold will last about two weeks unless you take medications---- Then it will last only about 14 days.
>grin< Gool Luck
hm, well you could have allergies. I find that Sinutab helps my allergies. Or it could be the air conditioner, go outside and see if that makes a difference. Check your hosue, do you have cat or dog hair on your furniture? that could be the problem. Or if you have a cold. Also, eat less dairy.
This is allergy time. I just had a battery of test that cost $800 US. To rid myself of the allergy will take weekly then bimonthly injections for years (5+) or until my wallet dries up. An easy test for allergy is a dose of prednisone (a steroid tablet). You'll know almost immediately if it's an allergy or not. It's a quick test --- not a treatment. I don't care for most over the counter meds as they can quickly lead to the "rebound effect" whereas your nose is more stuffed up than before you took "the cure".
Looked at all the answers given so far. Don't like any of them. Forget about spending big bucks on a painful allergy test. Forget about taking drugs that have side effects and long term damages to your body. Try LOCAL HONEY!. It has all the airborne irritants in your area in it. As you take a spoonful a day for a while, you will gradually build up immunities to everything around you. It is inexpensive, no side effects, can be procured without a trip to the doctors, don't need a prescription and has no long term damage problems for your body. It is 100% natural-that's best for yur body. Why not give it a try? As with all herbal medications, it will take a while, but you will gradually see an improvement. you will also notice that you get fewer and lee severe colds and flu symtoms.
