What is the best way of dealing with pain after surgery?

Question:
I just had reconstructive surgery on my foot.

Answers:
percocet for pain management and keep off of it and keep it elevated and wrapped
I just read an article on DLPA (D L Phenylalinine) an amino acid that works on pain receptors. You should go to google and type in DLPA, pain and see what comes up. It looks like a good plan to me.
It is hard to do but one thing I tried and seemed to help is saying to myself "I am not my foot" or whatever is hurting. "the pain has nothing to do with who I really am"
This and deep breathing.
Good luck!
Take it easy. Elevate it. Swelling causes pressure that causes intense pain if not elevated. If you cannot elevate, wrap with pressure wraps(not too tight).
