What causes tension in your neck?

Question:
Is there a certain type of stress that tends to cause tension in your neck rather than other places? Thought maybe it had to do with different parts of the brain.

Answers:
No, there are two main causes for muscle tension, whether in the neck or elsewhere. First is bad posture. Sitting at a desk all day with your shoulders slumped over, etc. You should adjust the height of your chair, desk, and keyboard so that you are sitting up straight. Second is improper breathing. Westerners tend to breathe way to shallowly for health. You can work on deep breathing exercises and eventually they will continue through your day. But any time you notice the tension building up, take a few minutes to deep breathe and that will make it better.
The only think that I can think of may be a wrong posture or a neck subluxation.

I don't think there's a special kind of stress that causes neck pain. Stress is just stress. Try a muscle relaxant and a pain killer. That helped me alot with the same kind of pain.Good luck!
