Ankle ligaments?
Question:
Answers:
Yeah maybe better in 2 weeks for getting back to normal, but not strong enough for sports! The ligaments have very little blood supply so healing is slower and it takes ages to build up strength again. If you are serious about your sport get along to a sport injury physiotherapist for treatment. Ultrasound and tens is useful as it increases blood supply to the area. The physio should also be able to recommend some specific exercises to help build up the strength quickly.
Best of luck
Ligaments take a LOOOONG time to heal. The only thing that helps is rest. The next best thing is as much rest as you can give them, anti-inflammatory meds, elevation and warmth with adequate and gentle stretching prior to physical activity.
rest, rest, rest
i fell down the stairs ard torn the ligaments in my anklle about 2 years ago, however after about 2 months they decided i had actually broke my ankle so i had to have physio which involved pulse treatment-like a tens machine in my ankle, i also had physio on my hips as yr ciatic nerve runs from yr hips to yr foot and i found this helped a great deal for me. i was given exercises to do at home (complicatated to write down now) but i have never suffered any pain since
I broke my heel bone in a car crash a looong time ago and I
started having trouble with my ankle, when your walking does it tend to give way? and the pain increase,
my advice, wear shoes/boots and trainers that come over the ankle and preferably tie.(baseball boots are coming into fashion) ask your dad/granddad if they have any old football boots, at least they protected the ankles
Hope things improve and you get your footy.
PS. They sports ankle supports waste o money
crepe bandage from the foot arch to 3" above centre of
ankle bone that should get you through the first half.
good luck Goooaaal
