if you have been dx with IBS than it doesn't go away, diet helps,zelnorm used to be the drug of choice for IBS, but they pulled it of the market several months ago, most doctors recommend miralax (OTC) medication for that the (IBS) for the bladder if it is a chronic problem than Valium (generic diazapam) helps with spasms, lorazapam does too for more severe cases. There is also a condition called IC which has to be (dx) done with a cystoscope (a mild procedure-outpatient) which takes pictures of the inside of your bladder, if it is anything to worry about this rules out other things and can tell the doctor a lot. If your not happy with whatever your GP has told you, then make an appointment with a urologist and let them exam you and TX whatever the problem is. But yes, most people with IBS have other problems in that area bladder and bowels seem to go together unfortunately. There is a web site called ICN that talks only about the bladder, I am a member. each state has a support group for it too. If you are female, a bladder spasm can feel like when your about 4-5 months pregnant and you get what they call the butterflies, but some have much more severe spams, the double over kind, you would need to seek a urologist if this is your case. You should be put on medication. Also you should have an mri done to look for Spina Bifida Occulta.
