Since you have been kicked, you might want a doctor to check you over. If your kidneys have been injured you will have pain when urinating and possibly blood. Ice will reduce any swelling and a good muscle rub will help with soreness once you know your kidneys are OK. I usually take aspirin for pain and to relieve inflammation.
over the counter i would try motrin.. if its really bad go see a doc and get some good muscle relaxers like valium
OTC meds, Motrin, Advil or Excedrin back pain. Motirn is the best however
Hmm..
Make sure you're not having any trouble peeing, in case they kicked you in the kidneys.
Since it is a bruised-type injury, I would suggest trying ibuprofin (advil) or tylenol.
First try putting an ice pack on it (cover it in a towl so it doesn't hurt your skin, trust me, if you don't it will hurt more than the friggen back! lol) then if that doesn't help, wait about 15-20 min and try a heating pad.
At night, if you can't get to sleep because of it, try whatever pain med you're taking PLUS one regular benadryl. (make sure you DON'T get non-drowsy. Drowsy is what we WANT at night..lol. Plus it's cheaper than buying Anything PM, which is just THAT medicine with benadryl! lol)
Try taking a nice warm bath, not too hot, but relaxing! (not after taking benadryl though, you might fall asleep in the tub. Sleep+water= not so much fun drowning)

Hope you get to feeling better!

P.S. If you're under the age of 21 DO NOT take asprin without asking your doctor.
It's rare, but there have been kids die of something called Rey's Syndrome caused by taking asprin at a young age.
And don't ever take asprin with either ibuprofin or aleve (naproxem sodium) because they're in the SAME family of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflamatorry Drugs (NSAIDS) and you can OD really easy.
I just threw mine out a bout 2 months ago. Doc gave me Naproxen (pain) AND Carisoprodol (muscle relaxer) worked GREAT. Pain went away but I wasn't "out of it" Back is just fine now after about a week an a half of rest.
But that was a muscle pull.
You might have actual damage to your spine from a kick. Have a doc seriously check out your back. Specially if you have ANY problems walking.

OH, a hot water bottle, and ice packs alternate on 20 minutes by the hour helped out a bunch too.
If the injury has occurred within the past 24 hours, apply ice packs for 10 to 20 minutes every hour to help in reducing swelling. If the injury is older than that, apply heat the same amount of time. If you are having much pain with this, please seek medical attention.
You can try something natural if drugs are not for you. Dilute 5 drops of Rosemary, 5 drops of Peppermint and 5 drops of Lavender in 15ml of Almond oil. Use this to massage on and around the area of pain.
