Why does scalding your tongue leave you with a sandy feeling?

Question:
sometimes when we consume hot liquids of foods too fast and we scald our tongue, it has a sandy feeling on it after awhile, why does this happen?

Answers:
what happens is you have de-sensitized multple nerve endings and the top of your tongue kinda goes numb -there fore you get a feeling like there is sand in your mouth-and you can feel the "taste-buds" on the top of your mouth -but not on your tongue
because you burn your taste buds and they stick up sometimes. They feel like grains of sand
