I sprained my ankle 8 days ago, is it normal for it to still be swollen?
Question:
Answers:
Perfectly normal
yes, I would keep it raised as much as possible. Are you walking on it?
You should walk as little as possible, try to stay in bed for a couple of days, and if the swelling does not go down, then I would go see a doc. That has happened to me 5 or 6 times in my life. Sitting down isn't too good for it either.
Are you sure it is only sprained? And yes it is still normal to be swollen after eight days. If it is in fact just a sprain take ibuprofine and elevate it as much as possible.
And please if you have not done so by all means go see a doctor.
yes.
everytime i do something like that i'm amazed at how long it takes to heal.
then, eventually, i'm amazed how it has healed so well i cannot even tell it was every hurt.
give it time. your body will do great things.
it's happened to me before like that.
you might want to get an xray in case there is any sort of fracture that you might not be aware of
mine was discolored as well tho
you might try *HOT* water soaking with epsom salts
as well as COLD water soaking later on . both treatments seem to help, which is a bit strange
good luck .
having no money is no excuse.. You may need to go to a County Hospital or just be billed. Fractures can come back to haunt you in the worse way, and that's what it sounds like you have!!
Its is pretty normal for your ankle to still be swollen. Although be sure to apply ice to your ankle as it will bring down the swelling. Be sure to keep your foot raised and try walking on your foot as little as possible. Now that the pain is gone, Im sure that the swelling will follow suit.

I hope this helps and I hope your ankle gets better soon!
Same Thing Happened To Me,
And Yes It Is Normal For It To
Still Be Swollen At This Time,
A Few More Days Have to Pass By
For It To Get Back To Normal.
Well, Hopefully That Helped. =]
I suggest that you go to the hospital and request for the charity consultation. The doctor will best tell you what is the cause especially that it is still swollen after 8 days. You could have gone to the hospital when it happened. There are always charity consultation. You may try. Good luck!
Yes, it sounds pretty normal. Sprains generally take longer to heal than simple breaks do. I would continue to take it easy on your ankle...continue ice and pain relief (motrin or tylenol)...I would expect it to be at least one more month or so...as long as you take it easy!!
I sprained mine so bad (16 years old) I had to wear a cast up to my knee for about 6 weeks....Oh it hurt so bad...even when the cast came off!
if i were you I'd keep on massaging my ankle.there could be something wrong with your mussles or even some of your veins.i wish i was near you i would've taken you to a doctor. am sorry, but pls!take care and continue using warm water and vaporizers for massaging.wish you quick recovery.
