I take 200 mgs. of OxyCotin daily for a back Injury. My knees are gone - I take Percocet (useless) suggestions
Question:
I am at my wits end. My GP and the Pain Clinic MD are great but I can't get any relief in my knees.
Answers:
you failed to tell me what kind of surgery you are waiting for or what is causing the pain in the knees, but I would suggest a low dosage of prednisone once daily if it is due to arthritis, and/or I would ask about a drug like nuerotin or cymbalta or both. These kind of drugs help with nerve pain and the cymbalta helps with anxiety and nerve pain. If you are not on an anxiety drug, it may be advisable, as anxiety lowers your pain threshold. they also have lidocaine patches that can be Rx'd that help some as well. I would also recomend a duragesic patch (morphine) . it is changed every 3 days and work well too.
What were the results of your MRI? Did they give you any idea what is causing the pain? Just wear and tear? Tissue damage? Arthritis? You may need a knee replacement. My niece had one a few years ago--she loves it. Pain free after years of being miserable. She had no injury..it just started falling apart.
Oxycontin is a very powerful narcotic.especially if you are taking 80-80-40. I am very surprised that the doctor gave you Percocet on top of the Oxycontin--taking that much narcotics can cause a seizure. It's not helping---so I would stop it right away. Have they discussed anti-inflammatory medicines? That, in addition to the Oxycontin, could give you some relief--until the doctor and surgeon discuss the results of your MRI.
Good luck.
excuses lol!! why not find your self a deal and hook your self up with some crack
please be careful on that ive had 2 friends die one drank a beer with it another took to much after back surgery didnt think it was helping so doubled the dose never woke up...
that is beacuse they are treating the symptoms and not the cause of your poblems, I suggest a really good nutritionist and read...

Also go to http://www.agelesscatalog.com/wiser3... for products that have been proven to work on the cause of you knee problems (as well as other issues) eventiually getting you off all meds. I have plenty of people who are bone on bone in both knees and are no longer taking pain meds. you can call any of them.
I know this probably sounds strange to some people, but it is a lot more harmless than what you are doing to your body now. Hypnotherapy. It works on most people for some time. Perhaps it will get you past your surgery, at least.
you are an addict. you need counseling and to get a more realistic attitude. Your back is jacked and you blame yor knees for not golfing? Try acupuncture, get your knees replaced and forget golf. Get off the percodan. It offers nothing. Why havnt they given you any tens implant? Find a Doc that is not drug happy.
Those are very strong medications. The next step is probably home morphine or something along those lines. The drugs are not working anymore b/c you have built up a tolerance, you are addicted to them. I would really suggest working with pain management and physical therapy/message to try to help the pain. Also, knee pain is usually caused when the bones rub together and knee replacements will help ease this pain greatly. Pain control treats the symptoms only temporarily and will cause more problems in the long run when the pain you get isn't only from your original pain, but from withdrawal pain as well.
All I am gonna say is that I am a chronic pain patient myself and you are missing the point of your treatment.
You have allowed your treatment to turn you into a functioning addict and your doctor could be in big trouble if it was brought to anyones attention that he is prescribing this amt of pain drugs to a person who is heading to the golf course.
You just want the drugs to cure you and not do any work yourself. You should be in physical therapy, you should be checking into knee replacement, if you can afford green fees, you can redirect to the surgeon,. You should not be whining and asking what drug will make you feel better, you should be manning up and taking care of your problems. Not popping pills and heading for the golf course, and thinking of ways to influence your doctor/drug dealer.
If your screen name insinuates that you are a retired cop, then you know from your training how to spot an addict.

ask your doctor to put u on ultacet or tramadol which is the same thing and a non narcotic. It will help u and if u do have a knee appointment with a orthapedic surgeon then they can help u. More than likely if your knees are that bad they will suggest total knee replacement, which is a good alternative and will help with that pain, but also ask for some inflammatory meds as this will also help with the knee pain.
I had severe back pain , 2 herniated discs and lived off percocet for 4 1/2 yrs.I eventually went to the same hospital as Lee Travino to do spine surgery and no longer have any spine issues.I think your better off fixing the mechnical problem you have in your back with intervention.idont know what your specific issue is but if itis a discs problem check out this site ,it was the best thing i ever did for myself. I no longer use any pain medication.
