You have to chew on things, the quicker you start chewing again, the better, they'll stop hurting sooner. Try something cold on your teeth, like eating ice cream to numb them, that worked with me.
As for the wax, leave it near a heat source until it gets a little stickier and then use it, and make sure you press it on really well.
Good luck!
Use ibuprofen or naproxen in a prescription strength dosage. If you don't what that would be ask an adult who does know.
well how long ago did u get them because mine hurt until 4 days after so good luck
take tylenoll
the wax is pointless, it does nothing, just take some ib pro fin, i fell bad saying more than recommended but i feel your pain, then just go to bed, eat soup, and don't push you luck with eating anything that might hurt, and slim Jim's do hurt, ha ha,
take an advil or something like that. they told me the best way to work the soreness out of your teeth is to chew. my teeth didnt hurt until i tried to eat though. so start by chewin on softer things and within a week or so you wont feel any pain.
the wax, you gotta kinda press it into a ball and compact it then press it onto the braces.
I had braces when I was younger and, well, they're going to hurt for a while. The good news is that after this pain goes away, it probably won't be this bad again. It will hurt a little every time they're adjusted, but not as much or for as long.
If over-the-counter pain relievers like tylenol, motrin, or advil help at all, then take them. For the most part, though, you'll have to just wait it out. The pain will go away gradually. The worst part is eating, as I'm sure you've figured out. Make sure your family stocks up on very soft foods. Even soups with pieces too big to be swallowed whole might be too hard in the beginning. Pudding and jello are great, but you need something more nutritious too. Apple sauce and cream of wheat are your friends right now. And, try not to be embarassed by this one... baby food. I know, I know, but the variety will keep your taste buds from getting bored and help you to still get all of the nutrients you need.
Having braces is a big pain in the butt (er, mouth), and unfortunately nothing can change that. But I can tell ya, it's worth it in the end. My teeth were pretty bad, and I had a horrible overbite. Now the pain of it is years in the past, and I don't have to be embarassed by the huge gap between my front teeth anymore. Right now it's going to be hell for ya, but hang in there.
Oh, and be sure to keep brushing your teeth well. It's not that difficult to get decay on the surface of your teeth, around the edges of the brackets. I ended up needing a couple of surface fillings for cosmetic reasons after getting my braces off, which is just one more hassle on top of everything else you have to put up with!
ive had braces for 2 years now hunny, trust me, you will get used to them. try to take some advil. they are sore because your teeth arent used to having such heavy pressure on them. you might want to eat soft food and soups for the first few days and slowly start adjusting to tougher foods. you will definately get used to them, probably quicker than you think. and you shouldnt need wax. the only time you need wax is if a wire is poking out the back. you might get some sores on the insides of your lips and then you can put wax on the appropriate bracket so it doesnt irritate the sore, but other than that you shouldnt need wax.
