Cant sleep?

Question:
I can't get to sleep untill about 1:30-2:00 in the morning. I've suggested to my mom about going to the doctor's about it but she never made an appointment for me, plz help me and don't mention sleeping pills.

Answers:
i strongly suggest valerian root. it's great at relieving stress and tension! you can get it over the counter and it's a great sleep aid! if you have one of those "racing minds" or "i can't turn my head off no matter how tired i am" then this will definitely help. you can find at your local grocery store in the pharmacy or herbal remedy section. start off taking 500-1000mgs, 30-45 minutes before you go to bed. now you can get this stuff in capsule form and it's 100% safe (my whole family has been taking it for years and our family doctor actually recommended it) however the only downside is that the more potent the brand your taking the stronger the smell. and this stuff smells AWFUL! but it's worth it. within 5-7 days you should notice a definite change in your sleep.

WARNING! i strongly do not suggest that you take Tylenol PM and booze, in any form or combination. the main ingredient in Tylenol PM and Advil pm, or benadryl for that matter is diphenhydramine. here's what happens when you take it:
You can walk into a drugstore and choose from an array of sleep aids, offered without prescription. The main ingredient of over-the-counter sleeping pills is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are generally taken for allergies, but also make you feel very sleepy. Common over-the-counter sleep medications are Sleep-Eze, Sominex, Nytol, and Unison; they contain antihistamines such as:

diphenhydramine hydrochloride,
diphenhydramine citrate, or
doxylamine succinate.
In general, over-the-counter sleep medications are not a good choice because they:

Are not intended for long-term use.
Interfere with mental alertness during the day, so you should avoid driving and other similar tasks. You may also be at risk for falling asleep
Reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep.
Use over-the-counter sleep medications only for transient or short-term insomnia and in conjunction with changes to your sleeping habits. Be sure to pay attention to your body’s physical response to these sleep medications.

also look at the links on the website i've listed they have some good remedies!

I hope this helps!
Bug your Mom about going to the Dr. Keep an open mind and see what he/she has to say. Anxiety is a common cause for sleeplessness, but there are other things too. Best to have it checked out as it is so hard to be tired all of the time. Good luck.
well.if u don't want to go to a doctor.i suggest to excersize daily because the more physical work u do the more easier it is to sleep at night...also make sure u eat right and don't sleep on an empty stomach...if u don't like working out try reading at night before u go to bed cuz that ususally helps me fall asleep...if that doesn't work then maybe u should consult ur doctor...and keep asking ur mom to make an appointment.Good Luck!
I've had to deal with this before so here goes.

When you go to the doctor, he/she will probably tell you to cut out any souce of caffene in your diet. You will probably be reccomended to change your diet in a few ways, and if the problems persists, you will be reccomending to a sleep lab.

Its good that you dont want to mess around with sleeping pills, that kind of stuff is never good for you.

Try to find something relaxing before you go to bed. Clear your mind of everything. Repeat things over and over (I do it with prayers, but really anything works...). Exercise is also really great for helping you sleep, so be sure to give runnign around for a bit a try.

If you cant find a way to relax or clear your mind then talk to your mom about seeing a doctor.
AHG.

Hi

Here! You can find very useful tips on your Mental health:
http://www.infraredspa.info
It sounds like you have a lot of worries on your mind , and if you keep everything that bothers you bottled up inside then you will be up all night thinking. Do you have any friends you can talk to ? Have you told your Mom about what is bothering you?
Try to avoid sugar and caffeine that will make you stay up all night.
If you still are having trouble falling a sleep tell your Mom you need to see a doctor and if she does not have insurance you can always go to a family health clinic that will charge your Mom on a sliding fee sale by what income she makes look in the yellow pages under family health clinic or center.
If you need some one to talk to feel free to e-mail me and I will be glad to listen.
Good luck!
I suffered insomia for years. I really tried everything from noise reduction to sleeping pills.
One thing however that really worked for me was this little miracle. I'm sleeping so much better now. I highly recommended if you have trouble sleeping. It's called Natural Sleep Secrets.
Worked wonders for me. It might not work for everyone, but it sure is worth a try. Sleep is indeed very important.
