Question:
this is worse after i rest or first thing in the morning it is so painful i can hardly walk on it

Answers:
Sounds like what I had a year ago, you could possibly have a heal spur or plantars flaciatis (spelling wrong). Your only option is to go to the doctor and have it checked or it will just get worse
I had that before for a good while i coudnt walk for long distances and i went and got a skan and everyting and they said nothing was wrong wit it.The paijn went away aftr a while though.
I have the same thing, I believe it's plantar fascia, or something like that. There are excersise you can do to help the pain. I've just started researching this the last day or two because the pain is so intense I can hardly walk in the morning. I see most people suggest inserts for your shoes. That it what I am going to try. Good luck.
sounds like plantar facilititis, had it myself last year doctor gave me a steroid injection in my heel and it went after a week, very painfull condition wished i had gone to the doc sooner.
go see a doctor
I do a lot of long distance walking and have recently started suffering with this and my physio reckons it is a problem where the ligament at the back of the heel joins the heel itself and there isn't a lot you can do about it , it can only be treated in the short term but sometimes mysteriously disappears as quickly as it came.
When you first have a pain, it registers in your brain and the brain produces a form of morphine to take the pain away.
The problem is that after a while the brain stops making morphine and the pain remains.
At this point you need a Doctor either to sort the problem, or to provide a external pain killer.
Hi,
I have had this problem in the ankles and have had them checked out by the doctor who said there was nothing the matter! However, from Boots you can buy inserts for your shoes called Orthaheel (see link below). In brief, as we walk mostly on hard flat surfaces your feet are liable to 'roll in' causing amongst other things ankle pain. These inserts are 'hard' as in not made of foam etc, and help realigne the foot, in turn releiving the pain (see the link it explains everthing much better than me!). I have used these inserts for many months now and my ankle pain is now very rare. They are not cheap but are well worth the money to be able to walk again.
I hope this helps :0)
It is something called plantar fasciitis. This is inflammation of a tissue layer in the 'sole' of the foot.
It is always worse after a rest with your feet up.
There are a few things you can do:
The best is excercise- face a wall and keep one foot on the ground at a distance from the wall and step forward keeping the first foot flat on the ground. The idea is to stretch the layer. You can also, whilst sitting, pull the front of the foot up towards you to stretch it.
Also look at the way you walk- you may be putting unneccessary force on the feet as you walk.
Choose good shoes or trainers with a good thick sole and throw away any old ones with no cushion.
Also put inserts into your shoes to cushion your feet.
An extension of this is to use sponges (like the ones for washing a car) and cut them to size and then insert them in your shoes. This will give a huge cushion.
If you start by stretching it will be a lot better within a day or two.
hi! if i was you id visit the doctors.6months is a long time. good luck! x
Plantar Fasciitis...... inflammation and tearing of the Plantar Fasciia. That's the ligament that runs along the sole of the foot, from the heel, to the base of the toes.

Your doctor will give you certain exercises to do, and advise you to wear trainers with an added insole inside (he may refer you to a Podiatrist (foot specialist).

If it gets worse, the doctor may give you a corticosteroid injection in the heel (painful, and it feels worse for a few days afterwards) which will ease it a lot.

I had that last year, was off work for 10wks (couldn't drive or even walk). It was marvellous after the injection, but I've got problems again now, 10 months later.

Good luck.
