What can I take to sleep?

Question:
I haven't been able to sleep for the last week. About 3 hours a night is all I can get. Don't want to go to the doctor. I've tried over the counter stuff that didn't do anything. I've tried vodka that didn't do anything. I need to sleep! What else can I take to knock me out? (Legal or not at this point I don't care - but if it's not available at Walgreens, tell me how to get it)

Answers:
try melatonin 3mg. you can get it at walmart around the vitamins and herbal stuff. if that doesn't work then take it with some unisom.
If it has literally been 3 hours for a week I would go to my doctor's office, sit there untill I got seen. If not go straight to the emergency room. This could be a sign of many other beginning problems. If over the counter things didn't help you need to see a doctor right a way.
well dude, i've had that same problem for years. I'm 19 by the way and the only thing that worked for me was Tylonol PM. i know you said no wallgreense crap but that's the only thing i can think of that you do not need to go to the doctor for. Take about 2 of them an hour before you want to go to sleep, but in your case you might even need 3 ( don't OD).
Try taking Valerian Root. Its an herbal supplement. You can get it at Walgreens, it's about $4. It smells really bad.. but you take 3 a half hour before you want to sleep and it knocks you out. It worked really well for me.
try to get tylenol pm, and sudafed. these have what u need and take one of each and it should make u sleepy. dont use this as a cure to your insomnia, u need to see a doc for your not be able to sleep and they can prescribe u something to help u sleep and get a good 8 hours of calming sleep.
If you are looking for a serious, not temporary, solution (as opposed to pills which give temporary results) here's a great site:

http://www.thesoundsleep.com
(Give it a minute to load...it has a short video.)

It is something that you could purchase immediately.
Normally, I would tell you to take some pills (klonopin...it does temporarily help), but you seem to need a long term solution. If you do chose to get something from the doctor klonopin will temporarily help. But, I think you can do better than that.
