Polevaulter with back pains...?
Question:
I haven't done anything overly strenuous since then, just some easy running and overall body weight lifting. But the right side of my lower back hurts. You know, like, RIGHT before the flesh of my glutes start. Right there, where theres the bone.
Think it'll get better, or should I get myself to a doc/chiropractor?
Answers:
I think there is a good chance that you caused your sacroilliac (SI) joint to become out of alignment...which in turn would cause muscle spasms on one side of your lower back. I think that going to see a chiro for 2-3 visits would be a good idea, but if the chiro doesnt get things better in 2-3 visits it may be a good idea to see an orthopedic doctor to have your back checked and then get a referral for physical therapy.
you could just possible be sore because you havent pole vaulted for 2 months. but since it has been 2 weeks i would get into see a doctor or chiropractor. since you said it was on the bone, you could have bruised, cracked, fractured your tailbone somehow without even realizing it. or you could have pulled, or torn a muscle in your lower back or upper glute?.
don't waste your time seeing a chiropractor. See you Dr and get on a physical therapy program.you can get a lot of usefull information from Robin Mackenzie. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search...
