My 21 yr old daughter?

Question:
was walking across the wooden porch over at my ex's house.. and she got a large splinter in her foot.. it is about a inch long and 1/16 wide.. she would not let me pull it out.. said it hurt to much so my ex took her up to the clinic.. she would not let them pull it out either.. i told her that they could numb it. but she would not let them shoot her with a needle to do it.. so he took her home.. he gave her a mix drink.. she dont drink.. well that did not work.. her foot is swollen and when i did try to pull it out puss came out .. and she was throwing up..any ideas how to talk her into letting us pull the thing out..will she get gang green .my ex told us that some times they come out on there own but that thing is really in there

Answers:
one that big won't come out on it's own.
if it's pussing up already it's infected.
she will have to suck it up and get it taken out at the clinic.
or wait till she's asleep and pull it.
that's how i have to do my byfrnds 2yo dghtr when she got splinters in her foot.
you might try soaking it in warm water and epsom salts to soften and soothe... then pull it if she will let you
but i vote wait till she's sleeping
She could be getting blood poisoning right now. She needs to go back to the doctor immediately. I got blood poisoning from a splinter too. That can kill ya,...or have your foot cut off.
rip it out when shes sleeping
My question is why is your 21 year old DAUGHTER such a BABY!!!?!!? First off it's splinter, not her ENTIRE foot... she wasted HER father's time, the clinic's time and probably caused quite a scene at the clinic when they tried to remove the splinter. if she KEEPS it in there---she will have even BIGGER problems.tell her to suck it up and act like the GROWN UP SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE and stop babying her. grab the pliers and pull that thing OUT and if she behaves herself, give her a nice lollipop afterward... Geez... YOU are the PARENT... BE ONE and then like I said---TELL The baby to GROW UP!! I've had a LOT worse things happen to me when I was 5 YEARS OLD and didn't act like that big of a baby!!!
it is a good idea to go to the docter and have himm pull it out. it is infected but in the mean time soak it in warm water with epson salt. Tell her that this is seriously infected and if you dont pull it out and hav emedication she will get very ill and it will hurt her to walk. Her foot will also look unattractive.
Yes she might get gang green. If puss are coming out, it's got infection.

She could end up with a rotten foot and be careful, the doctor will have to cut the foot off.

And ask her if the wants that. Ask her if she wants to walk again. Run like all her friends. Enjoy your youthfull life. Ask her if it was you in her place, what would she had advise you (as her mum), wouldn't she had wanted you to have it removed by a very good quelified doctor? Wouldn'y she had suffered if it was you feeling so much pain?

It will make her reflects.
She NEEDS it out now. She doesn't necessarily need to go to the ER to get it done. It's just infected. I would scare her with the Gangrene and the blood poisoning and losing the foot stories so she will let you do it. I like the idea of Epsom salt to soften the tissue and ease the pain. It will also draw out the puss and bacteria. It's going to hurt real bad but pull it out. If it breaks then you need to take her to the doc to make sure all pieces are out. Have her soak her foot afterwords in the warm Epsom salt water. Keep that food clean! Use peroxide, neosporon (sp?) and keep it wrapped.
