What is the proper position to hold the head during a nose bleed?
Question:
Answers:
do not tilt the head backwards! That's going to cause the blood to drain into your daughter's stomach and likely make her sick.ick!
Both are right really. When having a nosebleed you tilt your head forward and apply ice to help close the vessels faster. If the nose bleed is comeing from one side only, it would be helpful to tilt the head towards the side in which the blood is flowing from but keep it forward and you still want to apply some ice. You don't have to tilt the head to one side or another as long as the head is forward and NOT backwards.
tilt head backwards 45-90 degrees, so no blood will be dripping out. As you do that simultaneously pinch the nose before putting ice pack. Then take pineapple[Vitamin K helps with bloodclotting] or the "skins" of peanuts, which Chinese people use for nosebleeds.
It is forward not backward. Why are they telling you to use nose spray? Nose spray can sometimes cause nose bleeds. Why is she using nose spray for a stopped up nose? Sometimes using the spray too often will cause this. Instead of using a nose spray she could possbily use a saline nose spray. I had problems with using too much nasal spray and had to stop due to this. If she continues to have these problems I would take her to an ENT doctor.
do NOT tilt the head back.
if she looks forward and slowly breaths through her nose if possible it will clot up on its own very quickly. then she can blow a minute or two later and clear it out.
who wants to taste it? do not tilt!
my daughter suffered form extreeme nosebleeds, we always put her head between her knees, in a sitting position, lean forward and use cold compresses,
My grandmother always gave her a pebble about the size of a pea and had her put it under her top lip right under her nose, the put pressure on the pebble. I know it sounds really weird, but it really works!
1st action u should do is
--tilt her head forward, which prevent her to get choked from the blood which draining.
secondly, pinch her nose but not too hard and put ice pack on her forehead which can helps to constrict her blood vessels which is having bleeding
ask her to breath through her mouth not the nose and not to blow or dig her nose.which may lead to more severe bleeding
wait for bout 10-15mins,if the bleeding still persist.Seek for ENT doctor,to rule out cause of severe bleeding.
ENT doctor may will do some investigation on it.and get treatment for the cause of bleeding.
you are suppose to tilt her head slightly forward. and pinch her nose and you can put an ice pack on it. the reason you tilt the head forward is so the blood does not go down her throat. if the blood goes down her thoat she can choke. if the bleeding goes for more then 10-15 mins you need to get her to the ER. did you take her to an ENT or just a GP?
This is the irst aid procedure according to the latest first aid manual. Pinch the soft part of the nose(just under the bony bit) and tilt the head forward. Keep the prseure on for ten minutes. If the bleeding continues try two more sessions of ten minutes pressure. Your daughter will breath through the mouth so give her some tisue to absorb any saliva. You can use an ice pack placed on the bridge of the nose. Frequent nose bleeding may require some medical attention. Some weak blood essels in the nose might be the cause. It's a simple straightforward procedure. Tilting the head back can send blood down into the throat and make your daughter feel sick. I wish you all the best and take care.
what my professor taught us is to tilt head downward while applying pressure on the nose. it will prevent the blood from clogging your daughter's nose because blood will go down. to apply pressure, with napkin or clean cloth, put your thumb and index finger at your daughter's nose, it's like blowing your nose when you have colds. when doing this, make sure that your daughter is breathing thru her mouth. in about 2-3 minutes, the bleeding will stop.
by the book you are suppose to apply slight pressure, if no possible chance of fracture, at the top of the nose. Have the patient lean FORWARD. If you can get an Ice pack that will help constrict the blood vessels. Your are not suppose to have the patient lean back because they can choke or get nauseated from blood going into their stomach.
Cause of bloody nose:

Other possible:
Allergies, sinus infections, heat, humidity and having a cold
I have suffered nose bleeds all of my life. My mother always had me tilt my head forward, and believe it or not, she had me take a little piece of tissue paper, or paper towel, roll it tight and put it under my upper lip. We also put a cold compress on my nose. This worked great. I had them so badly, I would wake up with my face stuck to my pillow from all the blood. It would just all of a sudden start to bleed, no matter where I was. Finally at the age of 40 I went to the ENT and they used silver nitrate to cauterize my nose. No more nose bleeds !!
