Super Glue on a wound?

Question:
I have a friend that just put regular super glue on a wound on his hand. He said that it was pretty deep and he needed something to quickly stop the bleeding. I told him that he needs to go to the doctor. However, I just wanted to know what could happen in result of him placing super glue on his wound?

Answers:
super glue was used during the second world war on seriously injured troops to seal their wounds before they were sent to a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (so they wouldn't bleed-out during transport)
it is fine for sealing wounds in lieu of bandaids, just advise your friend to disinfect the wound first
if it is very deep or if there is something IN the wound, this person should see their Doctor immediately to stave off infection
It's sterile, nothing. I wouldn't, but to each its own.
nothing unless it was dirty and then infection is a possibility. They actually use glue for some cuts in the hospital. Probably a different type but i see no complication. Nice of you to worry about him tho
it's safe
He can get very sick from that or get an infection, glue has chemicals that should not be put into the bloodstream
Nothing should happen as long as he cleaned it well first. Super Glue isn't much different than the skin glue used in hospitals and veterianary offices to close wounds. It may sting a little at first.
Well if he squeezed the skin together and then put it on then he is probably fine, but if it put it across the actually gapping open wound then he could get an infection. I know some doctors that use a superglue. Of course theirs is specially made for wounds and not the stuff you get int he cupboard.
Well he could but dosent want to because it can effect it and can cause serious damage and burning
what do you think they used back in the good ole' days when they didn't have band-aids..super glue is fine..they even make a band-aid type super glue! your friend will be fine!
Superglue was developed for medical use gluing cuts, but I'm not sure if the stuff you buy in the store has the same formulation. It might have some chemicals in it that the medical grade glue doesn't. I guess you'll find out soon enough.
it takes a long time for super glue to come off and if he tries to get it off in the future it can rip his skin off. he should go to a doctor or if it is really bad go to the hospital
