What should I do?

2 hours should have been plenty of time for these meds to work. If you are in this much pain I would not wait - go to the emergency room - it is one sure way to get some testing done and get some pain relief (do not go to an Urgent Care - they have nothing to help you with this type of problem). Whatever you do ... DO NOT double your meds or take them other than directed. Darvocet is a major narcotic and both of these can be highly addicting.
Do they know what is causing the pain? The doctor should have told you what else they were planning on doing to solve your problem rather than just hand you major painkillers and muscle relaxers. If they can't help you I HIGHLY recommend a chiropractor. A good one can work miracles. I was in a bad car accident, was told I'd need back surgery, and there was no other alternative. It scared the cr*p outta me because many times back surgeries leave you worse off then before.
I found an awesome Chiropractor and after a year I was completely PAIN FREE and have rarely had a problem since. If I get some mild back pain I just go back and see them again. I was able to avoid major surgery with no side effects too ...which, in my book, is ALWAYS a better way to go!
Good luck and I hope that your are free from this awful pain soon. I know how bad it can be! =)
This happened to me about 6 years ago. I've experienced periodic back pain for about 15 years but the pain would always go away within a few days. 6 years ago it didn't.
The doctors took x-rays and gave me some pills, muscle relaxers but that didn't do anything at all. They then gave me some pain pills but that didn't do it either.
They finally set me up for radiology testing, CAT/MRI scanning which revealed a disc herniation,
They originally wanted to give me a cortisone or steroid shot but they couldn't tell me if that would be successful or not so they set me up for surgery the following week.
6 years post surgery and everything seems to be fine.

Try this web site, it is listed to start on page 2, just for the fact that that is where it starts talking about Lumbar Radiculopathy which is item #3 on that page.
If your back is in that much pain and it persists, see about if you can have an MRI or CAT because that is the only way they can detect a disk problem.
If you have no Astma you can take one bill of CATAFLAM 50mg for pain relief after 10 min
For your own safety do not exceed the stated dose without first consulting your doctor.
If you are not better tomorrow, consult your doctor again.
Good luck, hope you are better soon

2.5 years ago I had a tough neck surgery, so I know what you mean. The things that helped the most were hot showers and massages. I was perscribed those meds, but I found that soma and vicodin work alot better.
There is no medicine for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 90% success in treating pains confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
