Getting water out of ear??

Question:
I went swimming today and have water stuck in my ear. It is driving me crazy and was wondering if it was okay to use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen pyroxide to get it out. Are these solutions safe? Any alternative suggestions?

Answers:
If this doesn't work, try the alcohol trick. i'm sketical about this...pouting alchohol down your ear-doesn't sound right.

Okay, lie down on your bed on the side where you have water in your ear. Make sure you ear is on a pillow and is firmly resting on it. Wait a while, and then you'll feel a tingling sensation that really itchy. Resist the urge to itch inside your ear. It's the water trickling out. Once it stops and the inside of your ear is wet, it's all out. This works a lot when you're in bed, as in going to sleep.

To prevent further "swimmer's ear" you try this. This is my dad's methods, and it's pretty much foolproof.

Before jumping in the pool, make sure to wet a little water on your finger tips. Then wet the inside of your ears (don't go too deep!) just a little. If you over do it, it's all lost. This works well, and prevents less water to go in or none. If you dive a lot, some water will probably get in, use the bed trick.

Hope this helps!

I know how annoying that is!
a cap ful of hydrogen peroxide leave in for a couple mins then turn your head over and let it drain out also laying down on a heating pad helps
It doesn't make sense to add a liquid to the ear in order to drain another liquid. If you simply lay on the affected side for a bit, the water will drain natually. Peroxide and alcohol will work but then you might end up with peroxide bubbles or a flammable canal.
they sell stuff called swimmers ear and it works the best.
did u just simply try using a q-tip to drain it out?
Alcohol & vinegar mixed. Squeeze in your ear from cotton ball, wait until you feel no more bubbles, then turn over.
the rubbing alcohol will absorbe the water that is trapped in the ear. I have used a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to gently swab my ear canal, but i am always careful to not get close to the ear drum itself. You can also lay your head down on a pillow with the affected ear down and let natural gravity work on the water. That method might take awhile, but hey you can rest, watch tv, etc. while fixing the problem. You might even just simply use a q-tip to dry up any water. Just becareful as some people don't even recommend using q-tips. Good luck
m mom always tell me to just go to the sink put some water in hand and through some water back in and put your ear down and the water gets out. It might sound weird but it really works or go to a doctor don't try rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide!!!
you can 1/1 mix with distilled water problem though if your ear is bothering you for other reasons ie: infection or busted ear drum it could do more harm than good flush immediately if you experience any pain old wives remedy have someone who smokes blow smoke in your ear it will dry it up and also tobacco has pain relieving properties
all you have to do is lay down on the ear that has water in it for about half an hour to an hour. it really works!
