Potassium and Hydration?
Question:
Answers:
No,that is far from normal.
You can build up your potassium with bananas, milk and supplements.Kroger and other good stores have pills that you can take. They are cheap too.
That should help you a lot, along with the hydration.
Having crazy low potassium levels is not normal, but I think it is normal that you feel the way you do given your condition. Stay in bed for a couple of days and drink plenty of fluids like he said. If you have to set your alarm to wake you up so you will drink some periodically throughout the day, then do so! If you don't feel better after a couple of days, go back to the doctor. If you are still dehydrated, they can rehydrate you via IV (not scary, I promise).
Perhaps your problem is too much table salt (sodium).
High sodium levels may lead to a potassium deficiency due to preferential absorption of sodium at the expense of potassium as sodium and potassium interact.
