Answers:
Well my mom has had the same types of problems and has been going to the chiropractor for about 16 years, after a bad car accident. The chiroparctor gave her tempory relief, but the pain always came back.
She recently began a new type of treatment called the McKenzie method. I believe it's basically a type of physical therapy. I don't know muac about it, but i know her back has been feeling better the past two months than the past several years.

Here's the website if you're interested in researching it:

Well since he's already going to a chiropractor, the chiro will adjust him but if your dad is still in constant pain i suggest he gets a deep massage full body at a spa or with a masoose.
He can continue to go to the Chiro but if it's the muscle that hurts him he should get a full body massage.
Good Luck I hope your dad feels better.
